2 Options Besides Raspberry TEA

by admin on April 26, 2012

Red Raspberry Leaf is mostly taken as an herbal tea or infusion, but can be found in the form of a capsule, pill, or as a liquid vitamin supplement.  Many grocery stores carry the tea in normal tea bags, but its recommended using the loose leaf red raspberry leaves for the greatest benefits. If growing your own red raspberry plant it is best to gather wild or tame red raspberry in the spring or mid-summer for maximum potency. Pick the leaves fresh from your red raspberry plant and dry them in low light and keep them away from the sun. Once dry, store in an airtight container and put in a dark place.

  1. Raspberry leaf capsules or pills can be an easy and quick way to reap the benefits if your not a big tea drinker or don’t have time to heat up some water.  Some of the more popular raspberry capsules on the market today are listed below.

r2.  Raspberry Leaf Liquid Extracts are absorbed faster into the body than capsules or tablets and are more potent than tinctures. Quickly and easily place a few drops under the tongue or dilute in a small glass of juice.  Here is a list of some of the more popular liquid raspberry extract products:

Or, try making your own tea from raspberry leaves:

  1. Pour about a ¼ cup  dried red raspberry leaves into a quart mason jar and fill with freshly boiled water, cover and steep for 15 minutes.
  2. For a stouter infusion, try steeping for 3-4 hours. Since the tea is a loose leaf mixture – it will need to be strained or use  a tea ball.
  3. You can drink the Raspberry Leaf Tea either warm or cold based on personal preference. Personally I prefer it warm, as it seems more soothing.

Typical side effects with raspberry leaf tea are extremely rare, but may comprise of stomach discomfort and diarrhea. If you are allergic to raspberries it is advised that you stay away from using red raspberry leaf tea. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience an allergic reaction. If you experience side effects, stop using red raspberry tea and consult your doctor for alternative treatments.
